My goal has always been to help clients take charge of their financial future. Over the past 25 years, I have stressed a collaborative approach whereby the client gains experience and confidence in the life decisions that affect their financial well being. For instance, our financial planning clients set measurable goals for wealth accumulation and we help them structure their portfolio towards achieving those goals with the least amount of risk. In addition to asset management and wealth accumulation, we work together to tax efficiently achieve financial independence thru retirement planning and recommend funding mechanisms for the education of their children. We also look at risk management to keep a catastrophic event such as premature death or a long-term disability from becoming a financial disaster. Where appropriate, we also establish an estate plan and explore alternatives for long term care, which increasingly concerns my clients if not for themselves, for their parents.

For the business owner, like the individual, we like to start by carefully examining the owner’s goals. We help the client evaluate their pension plan. Do they know where all the costs and fees are? Does it strike the right balance between wealth accumulation for the owners, benefits for the rank and file and administrative cost? Do the rank and file employees even appreciate the benefits they receive? Once we understand the issues, we help the owner choose among alternatives including 401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit and defined contribution plans. We look at business insurance the same way. What keeps one owner from suddenly being in business with his/her partner’s spouse or children?
